Because of her outgoing personality and active social life, she organized dance parties at home and dated several men, which led to her being reported by neighbors. Under the era’s “severe and swift strike” policy, her actions were deemed “hooligan criminal activities,” resulting in a first-instance verdict of the death penalty with lifelong deprivation of political rights. In the footage, she appeared dazed upon hearing the verdict, repeatedly pleading, “Even a suspended death sentence would do; I can change,” but she was ultimately taken to the execution ground and shot, at the age of just 26.
